BREAKING NEWS!!
OMG!! I AM FRIGGIN FAT!
And don't you dare say "oh okie don't say that...say you are pleasantly plump, or vertically challenged or horizontally blessed"....FAT IS FAT! I am all about being honest and taking personal responsibility. So here I am standing up in all my glory and taking responsibility for my fatness!
I gained weight when I quit smoking. At my last doctor appointment I told her "I need to see the nutritionist". So I did. The nutritionist is very funny and a great lady. Even though she did tell me that all my eating habits were wrong and that basically by only eating once a day I have managed to get my blood sugars totally out of whack and that my body thinks it is starving so it is storing all my fat cells *okie wonders why her body was not looking in the mirror....it would know good and well it is NOT starving*. I told the nutritionist "I am weak and a loser, I have to be held accountable to someone or I will just keep putting off eating how I am suppose to". She told me "okay so you are now accountable to me and I expect to see you back in 2 weeks with your food diary in hand". I told her "Ya know I thought we were gonna be great friends, but the more you talk the less I like you". *with one eyebrow raised okie says* She laughed at me.
So as soon as I get enough time I am going to make a new blog. I will still have this one for my hobbies, but the new one will be about my trials and tribulations of trying to get healthy. I gotta get some encouragment from somewhere as my daughter said "you won't do it" and then asked what I had for supper last night and started cackling and said "I think it is funny! I can have all the steak I want and you can't" *in her mind okie calls her daughter some not so nice names*. I told her I can, but I choose not to and left it at that.

Well I feel your pain. I didn't quit smoking or anything like that. I just found the Cricut MB and now have put on 15 lbs. So If you need company in the weight loss and getting healthy area,I'm there for you. So sign me up to follow your new blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI will follow your weight loss blog. I gained 20 pounds when I quit smoking & still need to lose it. I am going to start on the South beach diet. And getting in some exercise. So I know what your going through. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful that you are taking the initative to get healthy. You are probably going to inspire many people to do the same, just like you inspire us to craft!
ReplyDeleteI had to seek out the help of a nutritionist when I was pregnant because i had gestational diabetes (that was the only time I ever was cautious of what I ate) it is easier when you're being held accountable. Like Kirstie Alley, the actress that was on Jenny Craig, she said she gained back all her weight and then some because she was no longer accountable after she stopped being the Jenny spokes person.
Best of luck to you, You have my support!
Okie,
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!!...then you'll be inspiration to the rest of us that need to do the samething.
You are not alone......since I got back into scrapbooking I find myself not being as physically active anymore. I would rather scrap than take a walk and that's not so good. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you can quit smoking you've got the will power to do anything. I truly believe this will be a walk in the park for you. I can't wait to follow your progess....I know you are going to do great!
Dear Okie: You are not alone!! Even though I am slightly overweigth now I didn't expected to have my Tryglicerids count so high, high blood pressure and heart conditions are abundant from my father's side so about 4 years ago I have tried to eat more conciously, switch for low fat stuff, whole grain pasta and rice and I have managed to loose some pounds not too many but at least I though I was doing ok, wrong!!!! last blood work I had my tryglicerids are high and my cholesterol is borderline and I am only 39,waaaaaaaaaaah, so that means I have to exercise!!! Not that I didn't want to do it but I though I could managed it with my diet so we are on the same boat now, take care and I am very sure you'll be able to do it!!!! My best wishes for you dear Okie!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Okie,
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, I quit smoking also, it will be a year this coming September, and I also have put on weight. I have been doing alot of walking, but still have a ways to go. You can do it.
You can do it. I said the same thing to myself, honestly, when I saw recent pics of myself. Enough is Enough. I started exercising with the Wii Fit 15 days ago ... I have only lost 3 pounds, I have months to go...but its day to day. You can do it.
ReplyDeleteI too am FAT with a capital "F" which I also use for other words about my weight but will not go there right now. The older I get the harder it is to lose and I don't even try anymore. The one thing that I've learned over the past 18 months is that life is too short to stress about it any longer. I am going to eat what I want and live until I die. That is a fact and I don't care any more if I am fat.
