I Figured Out My Problem!

I have been wondering for quite some time now why I haven't been crafting much, well almost like none and after conversations with BFF Carmen and BFF Karen I got it figured out! My problem is that I was always crafting something because I needed prizes for my Christmas party and since I don't have a Christmas party anymore I am without a driving motivation to get chit done.

With this revelation of mine I have decided I need a driving motivation to craft all the time and the only thing I can ever think of is prizes. I loved having my Christmas party and it really was a year long labor of love for a few hours of fun and time with friends. It's a lot of work to get ready for the party and I kept wondering if it was all worth it. I always questioned if the prizes were good enough and if everyone understood just how much love I poured into each detail of the party, from personalized goody bags to every card in the card package prizes. I think maybe I got burned out on it but now I am thinking it is time to gear up and plan one for this year.

I am convinced I do better with crafting more when I have a motivator. Making prizes is a wonderful motivator...at least for me!

  1. I understand. I do better crafting with someone else or if I have a specific need for the project. Maybe just plan another Christmas Party.

  2. I have not crafted for over two years. I loved the boxes that we exchanged with other women as I learned things. It became a who can spend the most instead of making things so I stop before they took it down. I really moss it and just can't seem to get back into it. Really need to with all the money invested in it.

  6. I agree! I always need a motivator to craft, too. Luckily, I have a big extended/blended family - lots of birthdays!!

  7. That's a wonderful plan. For those that don't know how much love you put into it, the others know and appreciate it 10,000-fold. Hugs to you!

  10. Good for you! We all need that motivator, regardless of what motivates us! I'm sure your friends understand and appreciate all the hard work, time, efforts, creativity and planning it takes to pull off such a fun event!

  11. 97% of my crafting revolves around doing it for someone else and with a deadline. I've also learned I never enjoy it nearly as much if I don't know the person very well. And i always get more excited about it when I have creative freedom with it. Now to get my latest order finished.

  12. It is hard to get motivated to craft, I am having the same problem. I really want to craft, but just don't have the gumption since the passing of my husband. You did always put your heart and soul into your Christmas parties and I loved seeing everything you made! Maybe just do them every other year. What ever you decided to do, I know your heart and soul will be right back into it. And I do think your party goes knew all the work that went into your parties and the love that went into them. Hugs, Brenda

  13. Ohhhh ... I like the idea of the Christmas party motivator. I was never one of those at the party, but still your posts made me feel like I was sharing in the fun ... plus they were great inspiration to me to do some crafting too. So get your crafty self going making prizes, decorations, tasty treats, etc., for the party. I'll be right there with you Shirley, at least in spirit.
