Cricut Cartridge Storage - VIDEO

I had posted some pictures on Facebook of a container I got at Staples to store my cartridges. The container is a Really Useful Box *okie wonders how many people are going to understand that is the name* and is the 4L size. I had quite a few responses and thought I would make a video showing the container and how it works. In the video I said it holds 74 carts, but it actually holds 84 cartridges.

The little boxes in that I keep my carts in are made from a .cut file I made years ago. The file uses George and cuts 3 at a time. I had another file that cut more but I am unable to find it right now. Here is the file for the one I have...CRICUT CARTRIDGE BOX and hopefully you guys can download this. I am trying Google Docs to store the file and not sure if it will work.

Here is the video....

If you are unable to get to a Staples or find the Really Useful Boxes they can be ordered online at REALLY USEFUL PRODUCTS. I would like to thank Kymberlee of The Paper Midwife for sharing this information with me!

So you don't have to go searching for the handbook video I am re-posting it now in case you want to see more details on the handbook storage and missed it before.

UPDATE: I have been asked to post how many handbooks the 9L containers hold and it really depends on the handbooks you are using. I would say you can fit approximately 30-40 handbooks to a box, it depends on if it is a full content, lite or solutions handbook.

  1. Nice video. I could use a box like that for my carts. No Staples around here but maybe I'll find one in one of the other office supplies stores. You are just too darn organized!

Nobody would really tackle my scrap room. My sweetie was the one that helped me keep it organized before. He could organizer any and everything..I can organize nothing!!! It just seems to pile up.

  8. Gee hearing you is even more comical than reading you. Hope that didn't offend you cause I think you enjoy being funny.
I do a system kinda-sorta like yours .. except .. I put a velcro dot on the cart. and the other piece on the manila folder .. so they are "together". I is lazy. Yes it takes more 9l's but the ones I have latch together. Mark A -- S on one and T -- Z on the other.
That's the way this lazy ol' lady does hers. Thanks for all your wonderful words and "stuff"

  16. Guess I'll get started cutting the little boxes for my cartridges.

I do store my handbooks and overlays in the same type of container but instead of making a folder for each one, I just made a tabbed divider page using white cardstock and stood them up between each of mine. Sort of like a divider in a recipe box.

That doesn't use as much cardstock and works okay for me since I seldom get the handbooks out to use. I just find stuff in Design Studio.

    Glad you posted the video!

  17. Great organizing idea. I have been trying to decide how to organize my Cricut cartridges (out of the boxes) and this looks like the system I will use. Love it! Good to see you posting again, hope everything is getting better for you and you have a great day.

  22. This is the best cartridge solution I have seen. I did the ribbon box with the plastic mesh dividers and it was OK, then I thought I had to have the new Iris cartridge/handbook box but it doesn't hold the cartridges tightly and they fall out of place when you move the box. Thanks for this tutorial, I am going to go purchase both boxes. I don't have near that many cartridges, but I can dream.

  23. Ok I love this idea but what did you do with all your cartridge boxes? I would love to have all my handbooks in something because I use them but I don't use the overlays or the cartridges. I always use my Gypsy. BUT when I go to a friends it would be so nice to have this set up. So if you could tell me what you did with all those lovely boxes that would be great.
    Thanks, Linda

  27. I really wish I had seen this video before I invested in all those Cricut cartridge storage boxes that only hold 16 carts. If I ever decide to change again this is the way I'll be going.

  29. My old system broke (The ribbon holder way) and I was looking for a new storage system. I cam across yours on Pinterest and have created my own. Your file was so easy to use and made life so much easier! Thanks so much for sharing this. Now I'm off to the store to buy one more box for my booklets as I've exceeded my limit in the two I have. LOL

  35. What is a cut file, please? I have a cricut that has never been online and scal but have never used it. Is there a way to print one out and cut it? I don't mind fussy cutting as I am mostly bedridden...gives me something to do.
